Lance said it was 'a nice 8-mile walk'. Wonderful view for lunch spot - saw Lindisfarne and the sea. It was also possible to see the Cheviots and a wind farm. At the Broch at Edin's Hall, we were broch inspectors (Ashley joke). Found a small lake called Hen Poo.

Ashley was steaming after the rain. The only tea-room to need a sit-mat. Wet walkers were not welcome, so we sat outside in the rain under parasols. No scones or cake available. The first demonstration of the 'dead fly position' on a Farts walk. Steep climbs after the second tea stop. Beautiful springer spaniels and pups - Alex and Beth wanted to buy a puppy. Beth needed dry knickers at the end - not the only one. There were liberal quantities of mango chutney being fed to the pheasants. Large hole in the road.

Saga walk: Picturesque lunch spot by a stream on old metal sheep feeders which kept going 'boing'. Very wet at Abbey St. Bathans - could not find the tearoom.

Wildlife: Large blue dragonfly, long-eared owl in a cage, large hairy caterpillar, deer, lots of buzzards, dead blue rabbit, ladybirds, black slugs, heron, 5 pheasant chicks, baby robins, lapwings, skylarks, swallows, small blue butterfly, peacock butterfly, small orange butterfly with black spots. Two horses in a field.
