The walk was postponed by one day due to bad weather - and what did we get on Tuesday? - More bad weather! Commenced the walk in a snowstorm, though it has to be said it didn't last too long and the weather improved as the day went on. The walk started in the centre of Durham City. From Old Elvet we went up to the Castle and loop in the River Wear which forms the Castle's defences. After crossing the river we carried on through some of Durham University's colleges as well as the Botanical Garden until we arrived in the woods just outside Shincliffe. From here we rejoined the river and returned to the city centre. Not the wildest or most rugged landscape, but it was very photogenic.
