Little Shaw Car Park – around Amble Pier and through the town and behind the houses, past the cemetery and through the fields to Warkworth – over the fortified toll bridge to the High Street then returned along the side of the river to Amble through Coquet Yacht Club, Amble Boat Club and marina.

Weather

Very windy and getting progressively colder, sunshine at Warkworth Castle.

Comments

Nice lunch stop beside hermit’s cave. Vivid contrast between Amble and Warkworth.

Nice pub stop in the black Bull in Warkworth, which is The “official supplier” of pickled eggs to the Red Arrows and has the only recyclable toilets in England.

Ron took a wrong turning but recovered quickly.

Wildlife/Flora/Animals:

Birds: Cuddy Ducks, Mallards, Cormorants, Heron, Oyster Catchers, Swan, Seagulls, Gosanders, Robins, Chaffinches, Bluetits, Magpies and a stuffed Penguin.

Mammals/others: Hare.

Meal

The Highlander, Belsay – very quiet – joined by Alyx, Beth and George B.
