Comments

Ron and Sandy were the first people at the start point. Wet underfoot, and the rivers were high - one of the bridges was overflowing. Views clouded out, and Ashley described the views. Very slippy stiles. Missed out on a case of beer in a remote outhouse. Sandy went in a different direction - and lost her hat. Party of shooters with machine guns - lots of butts - and saw some grouse. Wooden henge. Toadstools. Closed cafes in Wooler - went to the Tankerville Arms instead and drowned in a never-ending supply of tea and a mountain of shortbread.

Wildlife: Five wild geese - wild because they had not been fed. Moorhen, pheasants, grouse, hare, deer, fox, possible heron. Very dead sheep - lots of bones, and a pheasant skeleton. No little calves. Barking dogs.

Evening meal

Tankerville Arms. Joined by George B. Tasty lamb and superb apple crumble.
