Comments

Lance, George B and Evelyn arrived promptly at 10.26 a.m. to be met by Michelle. The rest were considerably later despite Michelle's explicit instructions. Flattest walk of the year, but very picturesque. Lots of people and loads of dogs (one of which was a very large Bernese mountain dog) - most going in the other direction. Opted out of the 25 mile fell race. George G. escaped the hounds of Ennerdale. Lance had a 10 mile sneeze. There was a discussion on what to do when confronted by (a) a black bear (b) a brown bear (c) a grizzly bear. Michelle was the chamption stone skimmer - verified at 11 by George G. The banks of the lake were severely eroded as a result.

Wildlife: Lots of wildlife today. Canada geese, sandpipers, two buzzards, chaffinch in the car park, heron, crested grebe, robin, two cormorants, Mallard ducks, cuckoo, greylag geese, ladybird, very large slug, trout, weasel. Flowers included foxgloves, speedwell, and red campion.

Evening meal

Carts Bog. Good meal. The seats had been re-covered. George G refused a whisky (shock, horror!!).
