Comments

Very pretty English villages with maypole, hot tub under a gazebo, a lived in static caravan with satellite TV, surrounded by wooden veranda. Farm machinery for every task.

Weeping willow tree, tall, thick bulrushes, poppies, poison ivy with white flowers, a monkey puzzle tree with huge cones and a natural totem pole, a tree with large bracket fungi.

All the blackberries had been and gone. Early berries on the holly bushes. Lots of small fallen conkers. Nice views of Castle Howard from the Howardian hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty, deservedly so. Very few people out and about. Sandy sunbathed or worn out at lunchtime.

Wildlife: Strange looking chickens, unidentified animals (see pic), an aloof horse that got jealous of another one that Sandy was trying to electrocute, squashed frog, a cuckoo in Ashley’s car.

Evening meal

The Bowes Incline. Very nice but a hard job to pay for the puddings!
