Not many people about at first but it became busier later. Ruby rolled in some fox poo and we came across more stroppy cows and calves. We found a sheltered lunch spot in the hollow beside the bridge over the River Wansbeck at Middleton. There were good views of Cambo and Wallington Hall and southwards from Shaftoe Crags, from where we could see localised heavy showers in the distance. Navigation on Shaftoe Crags was difficult and we had to backtrack a bit to get on the right route. Fauna and Flora: Saw deer, a heron, lots of swans on the lake and an unidentified raptor.
